His bass stack was about eight Vox AC30s on top of each other, which was a bit weird. I do remember asking BudgieвЂ™s singer, who had a high voice, why they called their band that and he said, вЂItвЂ™s because I sound like a budgieвЂ™. вЂњTo be honest I donвЂ™t remember a lot about it,вЂќ he said. During the summer of 1976 The Sex Pistols supported Budgie on Hastings Pier. ItвЂ™s not the first time Glen has played in Hastings. With Earl Slick and Slim Jim on board, his latest album, Good To Go, was released late last year and features the single, Keep On Pushing, which Steve Van Zandt picked for his Coolest Song In The World feature on his show Little StevenвЂ™s Underground Garage. In 2018, Glen became one of the first UK musicians to perform in South KoreaвЂ™s demilitarised zone. HeвЂ™s worked with Iggy Pop, released an album through Creation with his band The Philistines and was recruited to tour and record with The Faces, Wendy James and Viv Albertine.

He co-wrote 10 of the 12 songs that featured on their classic punk debut album вЂNever Mind the BollocksвЂ™.ДЄfter leaving the Pistols he formed Rich Kids вЂ“ whose line-up featured future Ultravox members Midge Ure and Rusty Egan, plus The ClashвЂ™s Mick Jones вЂ“ and released the highly influential Ghosts Of Princes In Towers in 1978. Glen Matlock forever changed rock вЂnвЂ™ roll at just 16 years of age when he wrote the music to all the Sex PistolsвЂ™ classics, including Anarchy In The UK and God Save The Queen. The original bassist and songwriter with the Sex Pistols will be performing at The London Trader, The Albion and The Carlisle on March 5. Matlock plays a London residency with five nights at the Boisdale Club in Canary Wharf, London, from 30 July to 3 August.Hastings Fat Tuesday celebrates its 10th anniversary in spectacular style with headline act Glen Matlock. In my live show I do a bit of everything to keep everybody including myself happy. I didnвЂ™t set out to write a Sex Pistols album and fail miserably. Matlock went on to work with an extraordinary array of musicians including Iggy Pop, the Dammed, Primal Scream, Mick Jones, Midge Ure, Gary Kemp, Ronnie Wood and such punkn contemporaries as Rusty Egan, Mike Peters, Tom Robinson and Kirk Brandon. Matlock was only 16 when he joined the Pistols, and co-wrote such iconic punk songs of theirs as вЂPretty Vacant,вЂ™ вЂAnarchy In The UKвЂ™ and вЂGod Save The Queen.вЂ™ By the release of their seminal Never Mind The Bollocks, HereвЂ™s The Sex Pistols album, he had been replaced in acrimonious circumstances by Sid Vicious. I think Bowie would have been proud of that song. I said letвЂ™s go with it and he built it up. вЂњThe sustained sound in the background behind the guitar riff was Earl, itвЂ™s pretty off the wall. The basic chord structure is like вЂSpanish HarlemвЂ™ or вЂStand By Me,вЂ™ juxtaposed with EarlвЂ™s Ebow guitar which is like something from BowieвЂ™s вЂHeroes.вЂ™ I think вЂSpeak Too SoonвЂ™ is my favourite song on the album.
